Pearl Pillay is a youth development practitioner and writer from Chatsworth, currently based in Johannesburg.
She is the Managing Director of Youth Lab, a youth policy think tank that works to mainstream youth participation and build youth capacity. She writes about a range of issues, from race, class and gender to pop culture and travel.
When she is not running away from turning into a Joburg cliche, she is an executive member of the Bey Hive, and is a doting mother to her plants and her dog, Nugget. The jury is still out on that cliche thing.
She is working on a PhD in Sociology at UCT (in case you want to know her pain threshold) and you can always find her on Twitter, distracting herself from her adult responsibilities.
