Kgomotso Mokoena

Kgomotso Mokoena has been a sports reporter for the past 20 years. He cut his teeth at Tribute Magazine, before his big break when he joined the Sunday Times sports desk for 9 years. In 2012 he was appointed Daily Sun/Sunday deputy sports editor until recently when Sunday Sun newspaper was closed down.

He has travelled extensively throughout the world and in the African continent covering major sporting events: he has covered 5 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and 2 World Cup competitions. He has also travelled to countries such as the US, UK, Argentina, Scotland, France and the Netherlands, covering major Bafana Bafana matches.

He has won various sports awards, including the 2003 Coca-Cola Newcomer of the Year and the 2005 SAB Merit Award for Sports Story of the Year. He was also a Finalist for the 2016 SAB Sports Columnist of the Year.
